Hey there!
Not really sure if I should post it here... but I thought I would anyway.
Have a pretty large collection of GOG games now, but I recently stumbled upon an old PC game I had never heard of but want to play.

It is known as Karma: Eternal Wrath in English, or Eternal Karma in German.

It is a JRPG obviously very much influenced by Final Fantasy VII. It comes out of Korea (but the style is that of a Japanese game, hence still a JRPG in my eyes), and did see a small international release in the late 90ies.

When I became aware of it I did buy the German edition off ebay for a few Euros, and this release dates back to 1998, with the Korean original being from 1997.

What is similar to FFVII? Well, for starters the pre-rendered backgrounds with changing perspectives. They are of considerably lower quality than in Square's games, but clearly this is what the devs were going for. Low poly characters with more of a goraud shaded look than a lot of textures also seem familiar; looking at the cover the hero strikes a typical Cloud-pose with a big sword. Battles use active time battle of course. The biggest difference is that you can see enemies on the map and avoid battles.

The box suggests you can pick between three heroes at some point leading to branching story paths... can't say if this is true. :)

As I said, I immediately bought a copy, but as was to be expected it does not run well. I tried various compatibility modes, and got it to run with lots of glitches and an eventual crash when I want to save. But there seems to be very little on the net about the game. I am no PC expert, and no friend of tinkering. I was suggested a virtual PC etc, but really this would be a last resort.

Made me think of GOG. They do such a fine job of making old games run on modern systems like a charm... and their selection of games is always good to find new stuff you have not played back in the day. I figured maybe people here would be interested in this as well. Would be a shame if the game really is forgotten.

I did find it on the wishlist, but only under the German title with a German description... and I was the first one to vote for it. Maybe people did not see it, or did not understand... or did not care because nobody knows it! :)

I can not post vids it seems, so I will just post the YouTube code for part 1 of a Korean playthrough.

I can not speak for the quality of the game; it looks very dated of course, and not exactly original. But it does make me interested.

Sorry if this is against the rules, but just wanted to ask if any of you actually know the game, or would be interested in it. I fear a game with little reputation can easily get lost in between all the better known names on the wishlist. If you do know it, I would love to hear about it. If you don't, but would care to play give it a vote. :)

Its not against the rules to post requests in the forum, but it wont do you much good. Gog don't look here for games suggestions - nor probably the wishlist, but that has a chance to be noticed if you get enough votes. To me almost anything with a j in front, or rpgmaker based has no interest.

A guy with Reverse Flash avatar? Seems legit.
It seems the wish is under the German title: https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/eternal_karma_der_zorn_der_gotter
