The11thPlague: So, where am I supposed to buy DRM-free games, again?
I know of no store where all games are guaranteed to be really DRM-free. GOG pushes for Galaxy integration (technically DRM), Humble Bundle sell Steam keys amongst DRM-free games, same for itch.io.

So I buy from multiple places, but always check beforehand that the parts of the game I care about (usually the single player mode) are DRM-free.

UnashamedWeeb: The devs are responsible for implementing LAN / WLAN / VLAN / direct IP / private server functionality, not GOG.
I'm of the opinion that if GOG really cared about it, they would have integrated either direct LAN or a downloadable server you could run on your LAN that is a replacement for Galaxy and would have made it so that it is dead simple for a game dev that integrates into Galaxy to integrate into that too.

Might have made the need for separate offline installers moot too if they had done that properly, but I think that's an area where they prioritized building a moat around their business over being a drm-free store.

Honestly, for me, stop killing games is definitely for Steam and other big time drm-pushers, but I think it will also help to nudge GOG to stay on mission, because they have needed some reminding about that in the past and I think they could do more.

Wodenke: Looks like further promotion won't be necessary anyway - if the new-found momentum is kept this might reach 1M signatures by the end of July after all.

idbeholdME: Yep. +100K in the last 24 hours. By the end of the week I'd say even.
Sooner than that, it looks like.
939.628 signatures as of right now.

Granted there might be a decent chunk turning out non-legit after the verification process.
Not sure about the details but as I learned just now the influx of new signees could also be comprised of what appears to be disgruntled World of Warcraft players of all things.
And they are Legion.

And the Microsoft layoffs, studio closures and cancellations of a bunch of games, of course - this most probably plays into the resurgence of the initiative too.

The July layoffs have been very juicy already, and it's barely just begun.

lupineshadow: Stop Destroying Games.

Stop Destroying Gaza.

Maybe people need to get their priorities right.
Those are not mutually exclusive.
Let's go! 1 million ECI signatures!

And there is still in time to sign.

Where were you when history was being made?

But it's GOG who is pushing for Galaxy support (only?), since they have started it.

Wodenke: Couldn't care less about multiplayer, which is also the case for the vast majority of the GOG userbase, don't even have to go out on a limb here.
Yeah, and this of course is a completely valid base to just deny the not-so-small minority of players who do care about MP this privilege. If MP actually was this small a percentage, then MP would simply not exist anymore, at all, and be completely unusable for DRM purposes due to its low impact. Both are obviously not the case, though since a large number of players are perfectly content to be DRM-confined in exchange for some "achievements", the percentage of players who care both about MP AND DRM-freeness may indeed be tiny, as you assert.
