Hi!

Will Neva be published here?
Is this a setup for a joke answer?

Will I Neva
It is the second game from the creators of "Gris" which was rated very high, so obviously there are some expectations for "Neva". Both are rather short games (less than 10 hours) but indeed the "indie community" and the lovers of those atmospheric games are in a high favor for it.

I think the reason why it is not available for GOG on launch is probably a mix of 2 factors: They do not want to provide it DRM free any quick (yes, even Indie devs may love their DRM, this is not a AAA-"issue", it is just less likely to happen) and another thing is the usual rather limited sales (compared to the "we rule it all-platform") on GOG, so they do not see sufficient rewards for it.

Somewhat sad but simply how it is... yet i do not lose many tears because there are already more great games on GOG i could ever play (properly).

You need to ask Devolver Digital (the publisher) or Nomada Studios (the developer) that. Noone else would realy know.

And yet, just this morning I got a response from the dev studio that says,
"As for Neva, we currently have no plans to release it on GOG, sorry!"

I'm not sure if the person answering was misinformed, or maybe plans changed, or the original info here was just wrong.

Still putting in my vote to have it over here, but it looks like it might not be any time soon if ever.
Unfortunately, it happens way more often than never that some studios are all of a sudden changing their minds. Which is of course not a friendly behavior and i may understand why some GOG gamers may as well somewhat lose their good mood.

You can be sure, it is on Steam and Switch and in this case DRMed, still.

As people may see, it is not necessarily bound to the size of a studio nor the size of a game. Although, i dare to say that GOG is probably not "hunting them" because it is to late already... the big cash has already been made on Switch, Steam and Playstation. If GOG may even dare... they may only get a few % of the cookie left because most users already got it elsewhere and are not willing to buy 2 copies just because of DRM free. Simply how it works... the big cash is still done when a game is new, even on GOG.

No option for me... i did pass on this game because having it DRMed is not acceptable for me. I can go hug nearly 1000 other games... no big loss, if i am way to honest.

Keep Gris in your heart, as it is probably the better game anyway.
