Spiritfall is a fast-paced action roguelite – and it’s now available on GOG with a 30% launch discount until June 1st, 1 pM UTC!

This game combines tight platform fighter combat, smooth movement, and roguelite mechanics into one! Trek across dangerous lands, string together deadly combos to fend off swarms of enemies, and harness an ever-changing set of powers through a randomly generated map.

Now on GOG!

eric5h5: Speaking of nonsense. Missions are absolutely procedurally-generated; what do you think the "random map" option does?
I was talking about campaigns, obviously, as that's what mrkgnao was talking about ("previous missions" being a hint).

avatar
eric5h5: All 4X games I know of have random map options; I've certainly spent most of my time playing them using missions where they are procedurally-generated, and if you lose you start over from scratch
No, if you lose you load the game, from right before you lost if you want. I mean, at least in HoMM you can, I don't know about those 4X games you played, but I would assume the same.

avatar
eric5h5: The presence of rogue-like (or -lite) elements doesn't make a game bad, duh.
Opinions - it's ok to have them!

Breja: In what universe is HoMM a roguelike?

You're free to express your opinion on any new release, whatever that opinion is. It never bothers me, and I never bother others over it. But please, show me where I was advocating for anything's removal?
avatar
darkangelz: Did i say you were? I was simply sharing and comparing your opinion about roguelites, with mine about point and clicks
Well, that certainly seemed to be the implication. And if you didn't mean to imply that, then it's really not an apt comparison, is it? "I don't want to play it" and "I don't want others to play it" are not equivalent, are they?

GOG could you please talk to the dev to also bring the soundtrack?

Also as somebody pointed out, the installer is not available yet.

Thanks for the release.

Not relevant. 4X games/HOMM do have procedural generation.

Nope, that's stupid. If you've lost, then reloading the previous turn is almost certainly not going to magically put you into a winning position; your problems started far earlier than that.
Opinions - it's ok to have them!
Glad you agree! My opinion is that being a nattering nabob of negativism who contributes nothing of value is bad!

This is delightful. You interject into a conversation I was having with someone else, who was obviously talking about something specific, you bring up something else, and then you decide what was relevant to the original conversation.

So every time you lose a battle you restart the whole scenario? I mean sure, play it however you like, but you can turn anything into a roguelite that way. You can start over from the beginning of Baldur's Gate 1 every time you die in BG2. It's not an actual part of the game's design. It's entirely irrelevant.

Great. My opinion is

edit: let's just say it's at least as unflattering, and call it a day and let the thread be, hmm? I'm pretty sure it's been derailed enough.

Nobody said that, so now you're just making up straw men because you don't have a coherent argument? Typical.

Don't really care! I hope you're not one of those who thinks posting opinions is OK as long as it's your opinion, and you don't get to suffer any consequences of posting stupid opinions. Because you're kinda making it seem like you are.

Dude, only one of us is throwing a hissy fit and harassing someone every time they post an opinion I disagree with, and it's not me.

And with that, I'm really and truly done with this. Bye!

Lose the game, duh. Stop being deliberately obtuse. (Just being plain ol' obtuse is bad enough.)

OK, so you DO only want people to agree with you. So much for discussion, huh?
And with that, I'm really and truly done with this. Bye!
Byeeeeeeeee!
