System Shock 2 was originally released in 1999 and this cult classic sci-fi horror FPS with RPG elements has become widely considered as one of the best video games of all time.

Now, from the hands of Nightdive Studios, the System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is available on GOG!

With the goal of reverse engineering the original code to port SS2 to the KEX Engine, this upcoming title will let us enjoy the legendary game from almost 25 years ago, all with cinematics, textures, characters and weapon models updated, and the Co-Op Multiplayer overhauled to create a seamless experience.

But that’s not all – if you’re an owner of the classic System Shock® 2, you have a 50% discount on the remaster until June 29th, 1 PM UTC. And if you pre-ordered System Shock: Enhanced Edition back when it was released, you’ll get this one for free!

Now on GOG!

Considering the amount of features added, charging over 25 bucks for this screams like they want to money grab solely on nostalgia alone.

I was thinking "looks like a cool remaster to spend 7 dollars on" but this is clearly too much for an asking price.

Besides all these features, which don't really seem too viable apart from the FPS and the coop feature, don't seem to be warrant such a steep price point.

I'd say just buy the original system shock, which still works fine, and wait for a discount if you're REALLY a hardcore fan of these games.

Gonna buy this once its 70% off, which is probably going to happen sooner than later.
When are everyone that pre-ordered SS1 Enhanced Edition getting their copy?

Just like with the first part, I would’ve preferred a remake over a Enhanced Edition— but I’m content. Thanks, Nightdive Studios and GOG.com!

Prompt acquisition by monetary means.
I suppose this is now an option for people.
Personally, I'm waiting for the 35th anniversary remaster at least. Or should I wait for the 40th? Decisions decisions....

I would wait a little longer, it always takes a while for them to show up in the library.
Not for this price, thank you. On sale.
I think 15€ are perfectly reasonable for a modded SS2 that doesn't require any tinkering and with further optimizations, sure you can achieve something similar yourself, but that's a different matter
Will be picked up as soon as this month's slave wage is in.
Thanks, Nightdive & GOG.
Is there a comprehensive list of the "quality of life" improvements mentioned in the store page somewhere?

The 50% discount isn't appearing properly for owners of System Shock 2, which may be confusing people that didn't fully read the release post.

It's showing full price unless you actually add the game to the cart, then it updates, then disappears again when you reload the page. At least in Firefox.
Nightdive does it again! Thanks guys, for blessing us with the almighty KEX engine.
