System Shock 2 was originally released in 1999 and this cult classic sci-fi horror FPS with RPG elements has become widely considered as one of the best video games of all time.

Now, from the hands of Nightdive Studios, the System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is available on GOG!

With the goal of reverse engineering the original code to port SS2 to the KEX Engine, this upcoming title will let us enjoy the legendary game from almost 25 years ago, all with cinematics, textures, characters and weapon models updated, and the Co-Op Multiplayer overhauled to create a seamless experience.

But that’s not all – if you’re an owner of the classic System Shock® 2, you have a 50% discount on the remaster until June 29th, 1 PM UTC. And if you pre-ordered System Shock: Enhanced Edition back when it was released, you’ll get this one for free!

Since I pre-ordered, I paid full price... this time I feel cheated :(

I think some intern put the discount in the wrong place, as this remake isn't discounted, but the OG is.

I would contact support, maybe something can be arranged.

Same. I'm guessing the 50% was a recent thing from NightDive. I put in a ticket--hopefully this can be resolved. I already had the original SS2.

It is, for me. (after I press Add To Cart)

Keep glitching for me me but finally got it stable so got it
Interface is a bit annoying, tiny. No option to make it larger to properly fill screen, and mouse slow when moving over interface to manipulate inventory. Mouse sensitivity doesn't feel to have impact there.

Tutorial a bit changed, by adding camera and explanation of console to disable alarm.

Will see if I'll use reliable mouse and keyboard more, or have to go full gamepad on Legion go.
Fun fact: sharper textures on a 26-year-old game cost 1.3 million USD.
Steam reviews seem to love the game, I feel steam reviews or lot gamer reviews hold little water nowadays. One review even admits the game doesn't really look different, and another said it's a buggy mess, they both gave it thumbs up.

But then again, people on Steam pay 100 to 80 dollars to get games a week or two early. Gamers wonder why developers treat us like idiots..

It is because Steam reviews only have two options - 'Recommend' or 'Not Recommend'. So someone may think the game is a buggy mess, but still find it fun to play and therefore recommend it to others. Or someone may think the game looks similar to the original, but still enjoy it and choose to recommend it to other players.

You're totally right. Maybe the Steam should improve their review system.. They have the resources to improve a lot.
Am I really going to have to play through System Shock 2 again?? What is this now, tenth playthrough? Fifteenth? I don't even know anymore. All I know is playthrough ++

It showed as full price for me as well, but I added it to the cart and it refreshed with a 50% discount. The discount appeared in the cart as well. It seems to be there and not there, Like Schrodinger's discount.
