System Shock 2 was originally released in 1999 and this cult classic sci-fi horror FPS with RPG elements has become widely considered as one of the best video games of all time.

Now, from the hands of Nightdive Studios, the System Shock® 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster is available on GOG!

With the goal of reverse engineering the original code to port SS2 to the KEX Engine, this upcoming title will let us enjoy the legendary game from almost 25 years ago, all with cinematics, textures, characters and weapon models updated, and the Co-Op Multiplayer overhauled to create a seamless experience.

But that’s not all – if you’re an owner of the classic System Shock® 2, you have a 50% discount on the remaster until June 29th, 1 PM UTC. And if you pre-ordered System Shock: Enhanced Edition back when it was released, you’ll get this one for free!

Now on GOG!
Huge news for me, I was waiting for a long time for this game´s remaster.
As a KS backer - insta-redeem!

Thank you, Nightdive Studios and GOG!
This is cool although I question why not remake it?
Not the way i expected to open the game. I ran it for about 3 seconds (got to the first disclaimer screen or whatever it is) and then i got this pop-up. Behavier detection mind u. Haven't seen any other detections though so this is really weird. Pretty sure it's a false alarm.

mdqp: Is there a comprehensive list of the "quality of life" improvements mentioned in the store page somewhere?

Wodenke: Looks more like general options to me but I found this list:

Subtitles on/off.
Closed captions on/off.
Enemy speech captions on/off.
Interface feedback captions on/off.
View bob amount: percentage slider.
Weapon bob amount: percentage slider.
Look speed horizontal: percentage slider.
Look speed vertical: percentage slider.
Aim Scale: percentage slider.
Controller vibration on/off.
Vibration intensity: numerical percentage.
Mouse sensitivity vertical: percentage slider.
Mouse sensitivity horizontal: percentage slider.
Thanks for the reply! That's a bit underwhelming for me personally, but I am sure some will be happy with the extra options.

Thanks also to the many mod makers who kept fiddling with the original files over the years.

That comes after they collect all they can from remaster sales.

This was conceived as a remaster from the start, as a bonus for the System Shock remake backers, before doing any kind of SS2 remake (further down the line I mean) it's more likely they'd do a Thief or Deus Ex remaster, since they ported the Dark engine and that's why it took so long

And yes, using existing mods probably, they're not hiding that fact

As Memecchi stated, Nightdive never hid the fact they used mods with their creators consent.

I know, I was merely hinting that people here toss out some thanks to the modders as well :)
