Hahahaha

By the way:

"If anyone is confused. In the original Japanese version, they said 8000 but in the English dubbed version, it was changed to 9000 because it fit the lipsync better."

"Showing 10000 games on sale
of 10498 games in total"

=> Enabling "Show only discounted"

"Showing 7739 games on sale"

Alternatively:

=> Enabling "Hide DLCs and extras"

"Showing 6764 games on sale"

Alternatively both:

=> Enabling "Show only discounted"
=> Enabling "Hide DLCs and extras"

"Showing 4943 games on sale"

=> 8000 games?

But then again I'm in Germany and can't see all those NSFW hentai games etc. ...
Showing 5064 games on sale - without DLCs
Showing 7911 games on sale - with DLCs

For me (in the U.S.), ticking "Show only discounted" and hiding games with the "Upcoming" status shows 7,908 "games" (though I should point out that this news post only mentions "8000 discounts", not "8000 games", unlike the catalogue search page itself, which calls every product a "game"). Meanwhile, Gamesieve (a newly-launched, third-party search engine for GOG) shows 7,912 products (with its default "NSFW" tag exclusion and "Group dependent products" settings disabled). I have no idea what the differences might be between these counts (and I'm not going to personally dig through them to find out ;D ).
To be fair to GOG, this is a long sale, and there are sure to be more games that'll join it in the next three weeks, so the total of different store products that have been discounted during this Summer Sale period will almost certainly be over 8,000 by the end. :)
Looking through all these games is a hassle, even with "hide all owned products" and "hide DLCs and extras" enabled.

I stumbled over dozens of games, that I already own...just not in their "deluxe" version, or whatever.

Hey GOG, if I ever should decide to upgrade a standard version of a game (I won't, but let's give into the fantasy), I am fully capable to go to that game's store page and buy the upgrade...I don't need all the different versions constantly rubbed under my nose.

If anything, I find that so annoying, that it's keeping me from searching your offers.
Holding out for a few more wishlisted items to go on sale for a little more than %20.

But excited to see this get started.

I know what you mean. There is one entry for the game, one for the a few more for the DLC, one for the "special edition" with DLC, one for the demo... I no longer find joy in randomly browsing the catalogue. I simply look for what I want and then leave.

I find your approach would help immensely with the user experience, but I imagine that GOG simply wants to show larger numbers, as if that would imply more success.
[banner art] Looks like GoG is beach games friendly?
Oddly, true for Bulgaria currently, having temperatures at the cost (east border, Black Sea) at least 10C lower than the inner side of the country.
Let's play on!

Edit: fix minor beach-friendly typo

NoNameniro: Shenmue III! Where's the sale on this one, hello?! :|
It seems that Shenmue III is now published by ININ games. Maybe that is the reason

Oh wow, you are right! It's not Deep Silver anymore. Well, I guess that I'll wait then. Now I remember, ININ was making a survey for Nintendo users lately, if they would like to see Shenmue on Switch... makes sense.
