Gede: I know what you mean.
There is one entry for the game, one for the a few more for the DLC, one for the "special edition" with DLC, one for the demo...
I no longer find joy in randomly browsing the catalogue.
I simply look for what I want and then leave.
Exactly!
I remember, when it was fun to browse the store...but these times are over, it seems.
I just thought about this old game Messiah that's been on GOG for a long time (even back when prices were still 5.99 or 9.99) and that I never bought, and I asked myself, why not get it now, thinking I could get it at a good discount. Now I'm kind of shocked to see the actual price of it. When did that happen? It's still the same game, right? It wasn't enhanced, remastered, remade or anything?

I vaguely remember Interplay games being removed from GOG at some point - did they come back with higher prices afterwards and I just forgot about that?

That's the Interplay special. I don't remember them getting removed at all, but at some point a few years ago they decided they were going to both raise the base prices and lower the discounts. All I can say is I'm glad I picked up most of their 20+ year old games I was interested in before that.

NoNameniro: Shenmue III! Where's the sale on this one, hello?! :|
avatar
alexandros050: It seems that Shenmue III is now published by ININ games. Maybe that is the reason
I wrote ININ about getting it on sale and this is the reply I got:

"we are going to do it on all other platforms. Will give this to the sales team. I am sure they can work something out.

Sincerely,
Heiko Kaspers"

Can't wait!
No Stardew Valley :( I've been waiting for weeks

Less than 8000 titles are on sale . Many of them just DLCs , bundles . Some games were much cheaper in previous weeklong sales . Many good games not on sale , while the usual shovelware , porn crap are .

I change my rating from bitersweet to lukewarm .

The way I count games on gamesieve, three-quarters of all games are on sale (74.8%), two-thirds of those with an all-time low (67.7%) or better (admittedly only 5.7% for better), and three-quarters have the best price from the last year (76.5%) or better (6.4%). This is not a bad sale!

Of course GOG is going to inflate numbers by counting editions, expansions and goodie products separately (partly because of marketing, and probably partly because they don't have an easy way internally to signify the most basic version of a game so as to exclude upgraded editions).

When the sale started, there were over 8,000 products on sale; an hour later the weekly sale ended, dropping the number to just below 8,000. That's probably where the mismatch comes from, but chances are also that they'll add a couple hundred more games to the sale next week - that's been the pattern for pretty much every single sale in recent years.

Maybe I'm mistaken about it then, but I do remember some kind of "last chance" sale for all Interplay games in a bundle or something?

A shame about the new pricing. I wonder whether that strategy paid off for them. (In my case, it does not.)

I see. I guess I had my chance and made my choice back then already.

I didn't even notice it at the time, but given Interplay's prices, I'll pass. I'd rather buy more recent indie games instead. Maybe Interplay will come to its senses in the future and offer 75% discounts, and then I'd jump at the chance.
high rated
There's no kind of schedule for what's coming during this sale, right? You know, like "New release on this day", "Free game on that one", "More deals dropping on that other day"...
They haven't done that in a while, but I think it was a fun way to build hype and keep people checking back.
You might also be mixing in the memory of when all Nordic-published games (not yet THQ Nordic, and also pre-Embracer Group) got a farewell deal before being delisted.

Not sure if you're aware, GOG, but on that main sale promo page, the banner is blown up so much that most of the date range (including all of the end date) for the sale is cut off. Since it's not present anywhere else on that page as either static text or some kind of countdown, you might want to do something about that. :)

You sure about that?

It shows 18.06 - 09.07 for me.

In Firefox, on my 1920 x 1080 laptop display, I have to zoom it out to 67% of normal (3 zoom "steps" out from default) to make the banner look approximately like it does in your screenshot. (At that point, the forum becomes almost unusable for me due to how tiny the text is, and the store pages are, effectively, severely pillarboxed.) I did forget when I posted that that I had this site zoomed in one step (I normally keep it at 110%), but even at 100%, the majority of the end date (and most of the "E" in "SALE") is still cut off for me. EDIT: Same in Edge, so it does seem to be display-resolution-dependent, and not browser-related.
