Time to fill the hot summer nights with gaming passion.

GOG Summer Sale is now live!

With over 8,000 of the best deals under the sun, it’s one of the biggest sales of the year. Whether you're after timeless classics, indie gems, or modern hits, you’ll find them all at great prices.

There’s no need for sunscreen – just great games and hot deals. Hope you enjoy!

The sale lasts until July 10th, 7 AM UTC.
Banners are always dependent on window width on GOG.
And in the case of this sale, those for 768 to 1023 and 1024 to 1439 actually are are cut off

But the main problem is that they're added wrong, as you can see from the names, the files are one resolution above what they should be, and that seems to be the rule for all, which also means that everyone with window with of 1440+ gets the 2560 banner.

HunchBluntley: In Firefox, on my 1920 x 1080 laptop display, I have to zoom it out to 67% of normal (3 zoom "steps" out from default) to make the banner look approximately like it does in your screenshot.
EDIT: Same in Edge, so it does seem to be display-resolution-dependent, and not browser-related.
I'm not using Firefox and I'm not using a laptop, but on my desktop monitor (1920x1080), using Edge, the banner gets shown in full as seen in my screenshot, without zooming.

Whatever - I see a much bigger issue arise, whenever the sale will actually end...and GOG will have chosen the 'wrong' date.

Apparently, they could (once again?) not decide on a single date to end their sale.
On the banners, it's 09.07,...but in the text, it's 10.07.

Can't wait for GOG to end the sale on 09.07, and then a dozen threads pop up, from users who expected it to last til 10.07.

Should I get that copy of Ion Fury Afterburner i've been eyeing for awhile now? Decisions, decisions....

BreOl72: Looking through all these games is a hassle, even with "hide all owned products" and "hide DLCs and extras" enabled.
That's nothing. Every time I want to find some cheap yet decent shovelware on the other store I get put off by all the crap (free to play, mmo, 'modern', etc) littering every page. Then I go 'why bother fiddling with filters and settings' and forget about it.

Easily circumvented: I, for one, don't bother searching the other store.

Gog will sadly(?) never obtain every game one could want and some fun can be had from time to time by tossing a pittance at some rando title now and again. Count yourself lucky you don't have to deal with the massive lists over there.

*shrug* If despite backlogs and the number of games that are available, there's a perceived need to obtain a particular game that's not sold DRM-free, there are usually other ways to obtain it, DRM-free, while also making a point that DRM doesn't work instead of supporting those that hold on to it.
Coming back here on Day 2. Looking at my wishlist, and a lot of things at just 20% off. Which given that most $20 games were listed as $25 games, and most $25 games were marked up to $50, means I may have to let this sale pass on by this year.

Even with a decent backlog, i'll sometimes want a game that scratches a particular itch and i'm not too concerned about 'renting' shovelware titles I get for under a buck and play in a day or two. Still, I get what yer sayin.

LOL, I didn't even notice that discrepancy.
To be "fair", even when there's been no such discrepancy, they've sometimes turned off the main sale discounts several hours early. Consequently, I would always recommend everyone make their last selections not much less than 2 days before the earliest stated end time for the sale. But, yeah, there will always be people who aren't in the know and haven't been burned before who will wait till the last minute to make purchases (or only find out about the sale near the end), and they're stuck learning the hard way that GOG's stated sale end dates (and sometimes even the countdowns!) are vague estimates.

These long sales, we need a calendar of news, flash deals, an insomnia weekend, something.

This is probably the most subdued GOG Summer Sale that I can remember
