I was not very excited with the summer sale because with a few titles which was a true price cut (Star Wars games, Rayman games, Dōkyūsei: Bangin' Summer and Evil West) most games (or their content) i am critically (the 40 of my 400+ wishlist) interested in only got minor price cuts or not even a price cut.
An example of an offender:
Tokyo Xanadu EX

Many years ago this title had an 80% cut, and now this 8 year old title is "up" to 30% cut only. Needless to mention that there are several DLCs with as well a weak cut. Finally, if i buy it COMPLETE (which is what most gamers want... perhaps not everyone) it would be nearly 70 CHF for me which is close 90 USD, including price cuts.
People can guess how much it would cost me without any price cuts (the 100 USD border is being busted without troubles) for a 8 year old game. Sure, it is a good game but not a "AAA", still in the AA category and with a certain age. If there is a DRM and no BD discs, i would not even touch it with a very long pole at such a price. Because i got a certain spending limit for a reason... and a package of good organic noodles (Triticum spelta) is still only 2 CHF in a apparently insanely expensive country (which is sometimes true but not for any goods...).
At the same time frame, GOG is offering a "tipping" option... i mean i guess people understand that "enough is simply enough", no matter how much i may have to spare. In my mind, GOG should have enough margin, at least when i buy it, in order to get their finances into green levels and if not... we surely have some critical economical issues, perhaps world wide.
Because i can not see... in many cases... that the stuff is going to become cheaper. Most of the truly cheap offers are games already very old and/or very tiny indies, and they are simply by current behavior with a way lower demand. Always with exceptions, of course.
Besides, it is indeed nice to see that Everspace 2 finally is offered as a complete GOG version, but my my... it surely is not free:
https://www.gog.com/en/game/everspace_2_complete_edition Oh and, it is currently 42% cut on that other platform... if people know what i mean which could be hard to guess. GOG can only win here because it is simply the best version.
Anyway, guess people just have to buy such games with low or no price cuts and it should benefit GOG as well. Not that i would mind it if the publisher is having a noodle-party with some gold-plated sweets after, because at least they will keep releasing stuff on GOG this way... for those who can afford it.

But... but... it is
well made!
As puristic as it is... one good thing instead of 20 bad things!
