randomuser.833: Because Distant Worlds is more 4X, while Conquest is RTS. Different scale, but still with a unique map system.
It has some nice ideas and systems, but does not overwhelm you.

Mr. Zim: Okay, so taken purely from a fun RTS game aspect, Conquest Frontier is indeed an agreeable game, you do need voodoo to run it right but that is about it. But if i look at your list you are all over the place, you even mention Manor Lords and Northgard, Knights and Merchants, Driftland. It could have been done with some more categorization if you ask me
Northgard is the most RTS style of the ones you mentioned, and still far more "normal" RTS compared to Distant World ;)
It just got a kinda strange sector mechanic.
Manor Lords and Knight and Merchants are more on the Later Settler side of things, and I named that one too.
And while Manor Lords might be to much of a building game, Knights and Merchants is a full grown RTS combined with a full grown building game.

Btw, the mentioned games in this thread are all over the place too, so why you bring this up aimed at me?

Perhaps you did not notice that most only name a couple of titles? If you want to take the effort to name full lists, at least try to be a bit more precise. Someone who shows his heart is adorable af

My goal was name some more things that are in the GoG catalog, based on the titles that have already been named.
The OP wasn't that clear in what he likes or not.

So, if it is your very personal problem, that I didn't created a single bullet point aimed in a single direction list - keep your personal problems with yourself.

maybe you also failed to notice that the OP did describe his preference for more 'combat' aimed titles

You named Distant Worlds, didn't you?
And you named Creative Assembly, while I even avoided to name games like that one.

So I still not get why you are getting mad today. Or are you simply bored?
Or would you be less grumpy, if I would have placed Manor Lords with the honorable mentioned like Settlers and Stronghold?

Anyway, getting to stupid for me.
Have a nice day.

Decided to pull my copy of 'Regiments' from underneath the bed and spend an hour or so. Nice game! It seems nicer than Eugene Systems, at least to me. I find it to be a shame that the (sub)genre does not have an exclusive single player title!

Or is it 'Tank Wars Tunesia' ?
