Well, it's an indie adventure game from a few years back with fewer than 100 reviews. (Technically just over 100 reviews if you count all reviews and not just those of people who purchased it on Steam.). 90+% are positive though. Unlike most of the games I post, this one's never been bundled (As far as ITAD and I know.)

It's a science fantasy type deal, with space ships and magic.

If it's only on Steam, there is zero chance I will have been exposed to it. I don't do DRMed games, have no interest.

It's also on Itch (and on GOG Dreamlist with <20 votes atm).

GRIS?

Yeah, the background definetely screems Gris but doesn't feel as polished. I can't recall this section and the protagonist is not the same.

Spend a bit of time on GOG store looking under the tags of "metroidvania" and "platformer" and couldn't find it.

Found the game, it's one of the many in my Steam backlog actually. I'll give others a couple days to try to get it since I went last.

Well it's been 2 days. The game looks like The King's Bird.

Actually the earlier guess of GRIS made me think of it, because the two games are somehow linked in my mind - not quite sure why, maybe they were both in the same bundle or two separate bundles around the same time, or maybe it's just because they are both artsy indie platformers. Unlike GRIS, I haven't played The King's Bird myself though.
