Release GOG Galaxy 2.0 for Linux
DO IT. This is the year of the Linux Desktop. Windows 10 is ending support. Please help us! I'll give you more money!
The only Thing keeping me from switching to Linux is Galaxy not being available natively without workarounds. Please release Galaxy for Linux.
With the rise of Linux-based gaming operating systems for both the living room and hand held PC's, such as SteamOS and Bazzite, the need for a more accessible means of playing the titles offered by GOG on Linux is becoming greater by the day. The market is expanding due to the accessibility of products like the Steam Deck, offering a convenient handheld PC gaming experience that is accessible to those who want a pick-up-and-play experience. And in the case of Bazzite, it allows for the leveraging of Steam's Proton compatibility layer, as well as Steam Input that allows virtually any controller to work with any game. If GOG was to leverage the community it has built, the growing community of Linux gamers, as well as the open-sourced tooling available for use, I am confident that their platform would print money at an ever expanding rate. And the phenomenal publicity... I'm just saying GOG, it would be a certified "Everybody Liked That" move... Please support Linux GOG
Might I ask for ANY, literally ANY official statement? or some type of assurance like "client is under development" or "We are not planing to release a Linux client. Just use 3rd parties"?
GOG seems natural to support KED and Proton, really surprised no native Linux support. Please please support
For those threatening to go back to Steam, there are at least 3 other gaming clients you can use on Linux that will work.
GoG.. there are three independent gaming clients on Linux that work.. what's your excuse??
Hi again....Heroic Game launcher seems fine at first sight.....
Hi,
just found out there is no linux support. Sadly I've already bought two games. Have to try some shenannigans but in the end I'm not conviced this will work......I do only like steam because of the linux support. Not because of their DRM and ecosystem fixiation.....
If this doesen't work out I'll have to get an reimbursement, sadly.
still no linux Support yet Sighs Fedora KDE Linux support would be great Come on GoG get it sorted out
Linux only user. Guess I'm going back to Steam until this gets released.
Dear GoG Team!
Please develop/publish a native GoG Glaxy client for Linux. I think it is a pity that there is still nothing from you and I think you can do better.
GOG needs to do this and also add support for Proton.
I Just installed Bazzite and am hoping that GOG releases a native Linux Galaxy soon!
I've had pretty good success with Lutris, and it integrates with GOG. However it doesn't support extra features like cloud saves currently. A Linux-native (or at least Wine-aware) version of Galaxy would certainly be nice to have.
How is this not a thing yet? You claim to be against DRM, yet you cling to the biggest DRM of all: OS exclusivity.
Hi GOG team!
Thank you for your amazing work and for making GOG a 100% safe place where our data is protected! Given your openness to open source for connecting with other platforms, why not consider a GOG Galaxy client for Linux? It would make perfect sense for a community that values security and privacy!
We can't wait to see GOG Galaxy shine on Linux!
Thanks, and keep up the great work!
You've got this, we know you do. Support Linux users.
C'mon GoG.! They are already a lot of native Linux games on your store. Make it happen.
100%
I went 100% linux this year. To my surprise, GOG is not natively on the platform. I was really expecting they would be full on with linux, considering their generally open and pro-user policies.
I wish for it to happen soon or get an official response. It seems like a common wish but if CD Project RED doesn't see it as economic viable, they should just say so.
Please!, we are still here waiting!!, we want to buy so many GOG GAMES ! :D
Yes please! As a Steam Deck owner who prefers GOG but prefers the Deck over the Windows handhelds not having a native Galaxy app is a pita sometimes for cloud saves. I just want to be able to play my GOG games on my handheld. I sometimes just buy the game on Steam just to avoid the hassle of not having cloud saves easily accessible on Deck.
As a full time linux user, I would buy far more games on GOG if it had a GOG Galaxy for Linux. This would be especially useful for handheld devices, like the Steam Deck, or other handhelds with the SteamOS-like Bazzite Linux. I have a strong suspicion that GOG's consumer base is significantly over-represented by linux users, because linux promotes a culture of being much more conscious of how software works and wanting user control over it.
Frankly, It's really well past due to make GOG Galaxy available for Linux. I would love to see it and would probably buy almost exclusively from GOG at that point. But until then, GOG is going to lose revenue from its Linux customers the more it puts this off.
Please listen to your customers!
This happening would make me never buy a game from Steam if it's available on GOG.
Come on GOG! must be as easy as those Linux installation scripts that you provide!
If this is not possible or desired, cooperating with the Heroic developers would be a good idea.
Pleeaassseee!!! This would be amazing!
Would be nice to have a full fledged launcher instead of just using the site.
+1
i stopped buying games full stop after buying deadspace 3 months after its release due to switching to linux & duel booting with winxp GoG changed all that last december when i joined & starting buying again . I would like to switch 100 pecent to linux & not having GOG galaxy & community features is the only thing holding me in limbo .
Please for the love of the games & preserving them release a linux version with all features as soon as you can I know lots of people would be grateful .
At least if it worked with proton.
I use Linux and Steam for the easy of use.
I would use GOG instead if it had a Linux version and support, at least with native Linux games.
Like many others, I currently use Steam on Linux because it's so simple to use its library and lauch nearly any game on Linux using Proton.
If Gog Galaxy could allow me to do the same, I'll gladly use it instead.
if you ever wonder why GOG isn't as big as it could be, this kind of stagnation and refusal to embrace positive change is exactly why
A man can dream. Bought more than 150 games on GOG, all supporting Linux. Would love to play them with the native launcher and show my progress.
I wanted to play Majesty HD so I had to go and re-buy it on steam cause I have little interest in fiddling with wine and what not. Sad state of affairs.
I'd love to have GOG Galaxy on Linux.
Dear CD PROJEKT RED/Good Old Games, it's time to support a true open operative system.
I Recall Windows sucks... time for Gog to catch up.
Microsoft is making Windows unusable. It's time for people to start migrating. It's no joke anymore.
Would love to see this happen.
This would be great with the Steam Deck.
Heroic Launcher is currently the way to go. But having an officially supported launcher with social features would be really helpful.
is obvious step to take
I was preaching the gospel of GOG before. But, now that I'm on Linux, not having a native GOG launcher makes it an extremely sub-par experience compared to Steam. I'm quite surprised this isn't sorted already.
I haven't bought from GOG in years due to steam's linux support. Make me want to come back.
2025? Please GOG :)
Steam is the only one to do it right for Linux users, GOG don't care
Linux users want GOG badly :)
