Step into the definitive re-release of two dark spell-casting shooters that shaped the genre – Heretic + Hexen is now available on GOG!

Forged by Raven Software on a modified DOOM engine, Heretic and Hexen were released in 1994 and 1995, pushing first person shooters into bold new territory. These innovative cult classics introduced groundbreaking features like inventory systems, vertical aiming, and distinct character classes, reshaping first person action games for generations to come. This enhanced restoration makes Heretic Hexen available to new audiences and long-time fans with expanded accessibility across more platforms and languages than ever before. Whether you're returning to these shadowy realms or discovering them for the first time, an epic legacy awaits.

If you already own any of the original games, this edition will be automatically added to your library.

Now on GOG – and you can enjoy even more from Bethesda during QuakeCon 2025!
Seeing from the outside, the Heretic II situation should be easy to solve.
It was developed by Raven Software and published by Activision, which now are owned by Microsoft. And since id Software/Bethesda are also under the same umbrella, one could argue that the game is not out there because they don't want it.

Unless of course, there are other licenses in play that prevents it.
Aparently the new content for Heretic is not only the new brand new nine maps episode created for the remaster but a new episode selectable into the Heretic new game button, a sixth bonus episode called Fate´s Path, it is not exactly brand new but it was a bonus in the wHeretic version, I do not remember this episode in the DOS original GOG version before. It is a three maps episode. Interesting

UCrest: Since you mention it, I hope this pack doesn't give me the same problems I have with DOOM+DOOMII on Windows 11.
To be able to play temporarily I had to apply a downgrade (when updating) to get it working and it only works once and then becomes unplayable.

Have you had that problem with the DOOM Pack?

I hope that at some point this problem will be resolved.

Tarhiel: I am still on W10, so no problems here ;)
It may be a problem with my graphics card (AMD).

After doing some research, I found that other users are experiencing the same problem on other platforms (Steam).

Thank you for your reply. =)

A hug!
