Aztecs: The Last Sun is a city-building and survival experience set at the height of a dying age – and it’s coming soon on GOG!

The Aztecs – a mighty Mesoamerican civilization that thrived for over three centuries, ruling vast territories and forging one of the most awe-inspiring societies in human history. A people of vision and strength, steeped in rich traditions, powerful deities, and sacred rituals. You are Tlatoani, a divine Aztec leader, born to shape the destiny of your people.

Wishlist it now!
Looks promising, even god-appeasing sacrifices are in.
"Make sacrifices & collect blood...to survive the night"

That's where they lost me.
Well, can't please everyone.

Marked for future purchase.
I want to sacrifice my blood again to appease God : )

Looks like Pharaoh on an energy drink, might work
I'd prefer a conquistador RPG where the choice-driven evil ending is historical canon, but the player could be good instead. The main idea of course, is that the Aztecs are evil and should be stopped regardless of who replaces them.

You can't decently ask to play Aztecs without human sacrifices and rivers of blood in the name of the Sun God.

You clearly missed the crucial part of my statement.

I couldn't care less about these sacrifices (or any temples and churches that I need to build in other games to fulfill some "religious needs" by my people).
Those are not, what made me lose interest.

I jest. In all fairness, it just sucks. There's nothing I find valuable in ancient civs that would sacrifice humans for better weather. That stains me. But to answer your question it's both, I just can't get over the fact that those people would kill me the instant they could.

The game seems somewhat charming. I just can't glorify that way of life. It's scary for me. I don't like feeling like that so I joke that they should make a more defensive game since they lost a war they couldn't overcome, much like many of the people sacrificed.

I hate the stigma, and I wish games would be more modern.

"Defeat by Huitzilopochtli:
They plan to kill Coatlicue, but Coyolxauhqui's brother, Huitzilopochtli, the sun god, is born fully formed and armed, defending his mother. "

Don't forget Mictlantecuhtli and that his worship included ritual cannibalism. No wonder the other tribes were fed up and took the opportunity to topple the empire when it presented itself.
