Cathedral: Crow's Curse is an action-adventure with tight combat and a focus on exploration โ€“ and itโ€™s coming soon on GOG!

Step into the shadows and unravel the fate of the Shade Sentinels. Parry, dodge and fight your way through a seamless, interconnected world while you uncover the root of the curse that plagues it. Who were the First Ones and what did they leave behind? Battle ancient guardians, fight the Magnus Cultists of Shade Forest and unveil the hidden secrets of the one known only as The Architect.

Wishlist it now!
I hope it fixes the issues the original Cahtedral has.

(Issues include things like difficulty issues (an important sword upgrade that's in an area that, given the strength of the enemies, feels like you're not supposed to be there), and one early-ish puzzle not being colorblind-accessible, Also, the way death is handled is terrible, particularly with the time before you can spend your early money, and at least one spot where you have to avoid invisible spikes in order to get the item that lets you see them.

Looks like a "platformer" to me, could save people a click and Network a bandwidth if known tags are used...
Beautiful pixel graphics.
But I saw some things, that will keep me from buying it.
shrug
I might check it out at some point. The first one was pretty solid.
Nice, the first was good, though I never finished it because the last boss fight was excessively brutal and lengthy, and failing repeatedly lost its appeal quickly. Would be nice if they made a SNES port or something, so I could play it in an emulator and use save states. (Not as crazy as it sounds; Alwa's Awakening has a NES port.)

Let me guess, roguelike? ;)
Interesting. Doesn't look bad, but somehow seems to be lacking some of the first game's charm. Also, no SNES-like soundtrack? For shame!

Actually no. :)

I'm not really a fan of roguelikes, but I can live with that.

I'm pretty sure the first game's soundtrack was NES-like, not SNES-like.
Yeeeeaaaaaahhh!!!!!!

Cathedral is my favorite metroidvania on GoG. A really challenging game that doesn't insult the player's intelligence. It may seem too difficult but only if you haven't explored enough or thought out-of-the box.
It's not for newcomers but if you have played your fair share of platformers and metroidvanias, this is exactly the kind of challenge you want, and it's very creative.

I hope this sequel (prequel, whatever) brings more of that to the table.

Or if you encounter an inaccessible puzzle, like the one I had trouble because it relied in a small difference in color I couldn't see unless looking really closely at the screen.

I hope that, like the developers of La-Mulana, the developers of Cathedral would learn from their mistakes and fix them in the next game. (La-Mulana has a lot of "guide dang it" moments; from what I understand, and what I saw from a video of someone playing the Kickstarter demo, it;s significantly less of an issue in La-Mulana 2.)

The two sound a lot alike. "Chiptune" music I guess it could be generalized as.

They really don't. NES uses synthesized waveform generators, SNES uses samples.
Is someone shining a spotlight on the main character?
