BanditKeith2: And heres the crutch of the problem it needs install apparently and looking at the guide .. you apparently need Steam installed on the pc also to indeed install these back ups and play em

Edit and many people who I seen before talk about these back ups say ''Steam backed up games don't need Steam to play em.'' among other claims that come off as sketchy at best.. especially when Steam says otherwise

pferreira1983: This is what I don't get. Is it one or the other? If I don't have an installer to play offline without needing an Internet connection is it really a backup?
Apparently they only technically fit the term of '' Back-up '' in a more heavily drmed matter then even old game disks... given Steam game back ups you can download and put them on a disk .. but first you need the regular game installed via Steam .. Back up the game files and then need Steam installed to properly install and play these back ups .. Thus to me they actually aren't back upsor anything of the like

And the sketchy at best claims are people pointing to ''third party software'' that at best emulate Steams calls and such to fool the games into working and even these third party software's that people point to don't work that good and pretty much seem to only work on a select few games .. which even then is hit or miss too

While other games the software points goes way further then emulating

So I can't say they are actually back ups or the like.. and that people are being in most cases misleading at best or maybe naive

I checked and I don't actually own the game on Steam so could easily buy the GOG version when I can.

Right, so you can't install it separately since you need the game already on your Steam library.
I am quite happy that DMCs are here, playing through 3 right now and forgot how hard it is even on normal.

Two things I'd like to know:

1. Is there any update regarding the potential patch for DMC4? Dunno if I should wait or just bite the bullet and start without it after 3.

2. Does anyone know on which page of the all time bestsellers are DMCs at? After RE 123 and Dino Crisis appearing pretty high, I am curious if the streak is continued or not.

GOG is actually working on a fix ; a modified executable but imho the real culprit is Capcom which barely didn't do anything to fix the problem since the game was released on Steam. Some could blame GOG because of the game is part of the preservation program (and i really understand them)... but the problem isn't simple as it seems ...... and i think GOG needs to push the actual modified executable they are working on in the library of each customer who buy it : to increase the odds to fix the issue.

I do know that GOG was working on a fix, there was another thread that even mentioned that there were some tests done and they were resolving the issue. But that was over a week ago and a patch did not materialise. Hopefully because it will fix even more issues, if there are more, and not because it was forgotten.

You could try to get the modified executable which GOG is testing, you just need to write to the support (i received this modified executable but i'm not allowed to share it...unfortunately.) : that's why i suggested they should push this one in the customers library to get a wider range of results, of course this imply customers need to report the result...if they don't do that its pointless.
The game has others issues, but this one is clearly the most problematic and by far.
