I'm really starting to hate people here.

Whole Dreamlist action is about adding games that:

- are not available on GOG
- are not in a playable state on PC without Virtual Machine
- was released on PC years ago and now you can't buy it anywhere

"You" supposed to choose such a game and describe why you would like it to appear here, what amazing memories/experiences you have with it.

"You" SHOULDN'T add there titles that are IMPOSSIBLE to add to GOG Library like PLAYSTATION GAMES, SWITCH GAMES! ect.

"You" SHOULDN't add there titles that ALREADY ARE IN GOG LIBRARY!

The dreamlist is a marketing gimmick. It doesn’t matter which games you put on there or vote for, as it has no real impact on which games GOG actually manages to get onto their store. Its main purpose is to create customer interaction, which is beneficial for them. So, the types of games people add to the list don’t really matter, and they can add whatever they want.

And "you" are also free to complain about it here, but that too will have no real effect beyond generating more engagement on the GOG forum

Yeeeeeeeeeah, even with those aside, the dreamlist has a few design flaws that might lead to people voting for the wrong title.

Be it very poorly differentiated titles, or even games of the same name, or editions of a game across multiple systems, GOG makes no effort to filter them out.

Are people intent to vote for what [MIGHT] be the A5200 version of The Star Wars: The Arcade Game? Probably not, given the date marking it as the original 1983 release, but even still the database that GOG calls from is poorly made at best. (SimEarth has the SNES cover, SimAnt has screenshots and video from the SNES edition, SimCity same deal...)

You wanted to vote for Captain Blood, a cult classic computer game? GOG begs to differ. You have to vote for it by using the French name, and I hope you enjoy not having screenshots associated with that.

As to editions, which version of MechWarrior 4 is the one to vote for? Mercenaries, Vengeance, or Black Knight?

But yes, I've added some absurdities to the dreamlist to see if anyone was paying attention, such as the oldest game I could find that wasn't ported to another system.

More notable is that none of the obscure shareware titles I've put in for have been posted, nor does anyone know of the mechanism of which we'll be notified of addition by. I know less than 500 people are going to vote for the Steve Moraff titles I'm adding, but it's the principle of the matter.

Also: It appears their database pulls from "rumored" games or unconfirmed titles. Final Fantasy IX does not have a confirmed remake, so great going, guys!

I don't have the source handy but I'm quite sure in the past GOG has said the Wishlist number counts have aided them in negotiating. I'm sure it's rare but I think occasionally it does have an impact. (I'm not sure if they would have bothered with Breath of Fire 4 if not for the high number of votes.)

And the Wishlist helped me prioritize what games to look into, for the few times I directly helped bring a game here (off the top of my head: Harvester, Starship Titanic, Heroine's Quest, Betrayer), or indirectly by contacting and encouraging devs (various others like Aquaria, World of Goo, Submarine Titans, etc).

If you get a use out of the dreamlist, then good for you. But as you can see from the release schedule, there is no corrolation between games getting released and standing in the dreamlist.
