The latest entry in the classic Defender’s Quest tower defense series – Defender's Quest 2: Mists of Ruin is now available on GOG!

The Shining Lands are no longer the oasis they used to be. A toxic gas known as Mirk has plagued this land, putting those who venture outside the city walls at risk, and Evni Hunt and her crew might be the only ones able to stop it.

Now on GOG!
Finally here! Took long enough.

What on earth took so long?

I would like everyone to know - DQ1 is one of my favorite games of *all time*, bar none. I've played it to completion many, many times over the last 15 years. It's in a tier with MoO2, Civ2, and Infinifactory on my list of the greatest games ever made.

DQ2 is a dull, flat, boring, ugly piece of crap.

It's everything DQ1 is, except much much less of it, and looking like day-glo vomit. It's linear, painfully easy, extremely simplified compared to the first, and has zero replay value.

Buy the first one. Don't buy this one.

I have to echo yogsloth. Defenders Quest 1 is a fantastic game, easily one of the best tower defense games ever made. I was so impressed with it back in the day that I pre-ordered DQ 2 at the beta tier. Unfortunately, DQ 2 is a big disappointment. I honestly can't think of a single redeeming quality. Overall, it's extremely mediocre. It is telling that on Steam, DQ1 holds a 96% 'Overwhelmingly Positive' rating, while DQ2 sits at just 59% 'Mixed'. I’m not sure what went wrong here, but clearly something did.

If you haven’t played DQ1 yet, absolutely get it. It’s a classic. But DQ2 is very skippable.

Main dev had a horrifying family tragedy.

I'm surprised the game was even released at all.

Indeed, which I commented on extensively in the forum here.

What I meant by "what took so long" was not about Lars - although his tragedy is not what took 15 years to make this game - it's what took GOG so long, given it was on steam many months ago.
Nice release, loved the first game (which reminds me, I still need to go back and finish one-hundred percenting it!) Onto the wishlist this goes for the time being!
