BreOl72: Yo, GOG...is that trailer supposed to end so abruptly?
avatar
Sanc: checking the actual trailer, i think i see why [...] just after where gog cut the trailer there's a page displayed with where to buy it "steam" "mac app store" "epic store" but no mention of gog
Well, that's more or less "par for the course", so...
I hope that if gog can land some racing-licensed game like that, even if it's only a spreadsheet game (unfortunately for me), that it then means they'll be able to land good licensed racing games
Like some of the best old titles in that genre, the excellent GT games like GTR2 , good old Rally games like Colin MCRae 2 or 4 or some good old F1 games ( the old F1 series from Geoff Crammond series, the fantastic at the time F1 97+ series, etc...)

Japanese Drift Master got licensed cars. The only issue: There are just 2 dozens of cars. GTR2 got 144, still not that much.

The record holder, GT6, got 1200 licensed cars.

I recall some ancient Commodore 64 or Amiga game which was marketed with the angle that it has the longest theme (menu) music ever! Wow!

I recall thinking back then what's the point, especially since that intro music was otherwise piss poor and the game was rather simple and mediocre.

I get a bit similar feeling of a racing game containing hundreds or thousands of licensed cars. I wonder if Fiat Multipla is included?

Have you played this game? People are saying it's a mobile game ported to PC. Which doesn't seem like a good thing to me.

GTR2 has been heavily modded though the years, there are thousands cars , most in good sim quality, so it does not matter that there's "only" 144 cars, once you start to play it's just the beginning, wait until you start too look into adding tracks, cars and whole categories

Sounds like Skyrim on 4 wheels. Not sure i can pick it up DRM free and mod it up heavy, but perhaps possible, gonna try it out.

Besides, i got Japanese Drift Master now and so far i think it is innovative in its own way and actually even good for being playful, not a typical racer but full of challenges. It is far from being finished, so there will be more features and cars at some later date.

there should be no problem, i had the physical copy, just install the patch 1.1 and you'll be able to get mods running, there are some places you can still find a lot for GTR2 :
https://www.overtake.gg/downloads/categories/gtr-2.134/
https://esport-racing.de/
and wherever you can find through google, though some of those websites requires you to make an account to be able to downlad

I remember i spent a lot of time driving or crashing my cars :D on this Nordschleife track :

An actual racing game would be nice...
