mrkgnao: - I arbitrarily reset my counting to 0% on 7 February 2015, so counting from that date.
- I count all platforms, which for me means GOG, steam and epic. If I own the game on more than one platform, it is counted only once.
- For completion, I count both games finished (played to what I consider a reasonable end, usually credits or win screen) and games abandoned (played long enough to be certain that I do not plan to try them ever again).
- For the total and completed games, I count every game I own, whether bought or given, but I do not count demos/prologues.
Fair enough. In my case it'd be pretty simple to get a start point by saying that it only applies to legally owned games, so starting in 2012 with just a few earlier exceptions. Counting abandoned towards completion is rather odd though. Admittedly, those titles are no longer in the backlog and if they ever were then... And it also solves the problem of games with no ending or any on-line or MP-only game. But still feels weird.
About counting all, that means that if there's any game you know you won't want to play but nevertheless ended up owning, it'll forever remain in the total, bringing the completion down?
And how do you count expansions? If they integrate in the base game I guess it's easy, no extra "entry", it's still one game, and standalone ones are basically separate games, so they get their own entry I'd say, but what about those that require the base game but are separate campaigns?
71Planes19: They aren't but observations across the net seem to indicate such decent completion rates to be more the exception. If only more gamers had such dedication (my own rate probably sits around 20%).
At a quick glance, I'd say mine too, and that's without counting the games I picked up and know I'll never want to play towards the total. With those, dipping lower... Good thing about GOG making that signing up for marketing mandatory, the simple thing of having to untick that box if I grab a freebie made me think about it and stop just grabbing everything on offer, as I did before they did that. (No difference in space for backups though, as I don't keep those installers.)
